The Technology Strategy Board - one year on and the way forward

Please note: Regrettably, Graham Spittle is unable to speak at this event due to circumstances beyond his control. However, we are delighted that Dr Alan Begg, Chief Executive of the Automotive Academy, former Director of Group Technology at the materials group Morgan Crucible and Business member of the Technology Strategy Board has agreed to step in and present on behalf of the Board.

Graham will talk about the work of the Technology Strategy Board during the first year of operation, what the Board have achieved, and what the future holds, including the development of a National Technology Strategy for wealth creation.

Professor Graham Spittle is IBM Vice President, Business Integration Development and Director of the IBM Hursley Laboratory in the United Kingdom, and Chair of the Technology Strategy Board. The Board was created to develop the government's technology strategy and identify key technology areas for funding.

As Director of the Hursley Development Laboratory, Graham is responsible for a site housing some 3,000 professional staff. He is Visiting Professor of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh and Visiting Professor of Computer Science and a Member of the Court of the University of Southampton. Graham is also a Fellow of the British Computer Society, a Member of the Court of Benefactors, Oxford University and Chairman of the Business and Industrial Advisory Panel, ETB. He is a Fellow of Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania and Member of the Oxford e-Science Computing Advisory Board.
