Our publications
Summary
The Society has three regular publications:
- Our monthly email updates, open to all, contains news of R&D Society activities and a noticeboard of events and activities by other organisations that may be of interest, published once or twice a month.
- the Society's newsletter, exclusively for members, provides summaries of past meetings and news of R&D Society activities. Previous newsletters are available in the Members' room.
- the Society's Members' directory, published annually exclusively for members, allows members to make and maintain personal contact with one another, enhancing networking and collaboration opportunities.
The Society also produces occasional Email Updates for members, and lists policy initiatives, Government activities, events and activities relevant to the UK R&D community on our frequently-updated Noticeboard, provided free as a service to the R&D community.
Other publications
2006: A review of our year was distributed to our members in advance of the 2007 Annual General Meeting.
On 15 December 2006, the Society submitted evidence to the House of Commons Education and Skills Committee Inquiry into the future sustainability of the higher education sector: purpose, funding and structures. On 5 August 2007, the Committee published its report, The future sustainability of the higher education sector: international aspects.
On 4 October 2006, the Society published Higher Education in 2015 and beyond: will it meet our needs?, a report summarising the responses received from members of the UK research and development (R&D) community into their current and future skill needs. The report and all the survey responses were submitted as evidence to the Royal Society's science policy study on "Science Higher Education in 2015 and beyond", which was published as A higher degree of concern.on 31 January 2008.
